Frequently Asked Questions

Can I become a member of Neighborhood Credit Union?

Joining a credit union is easier than you think! There are several ways you're able to become a member, and you even qualify simply if you have a family member that does.

You're eligible if you live in the state of Texas!

You don't give up anything when you switch from a big bank, either. We offer several online & mobile services and convenience services, including online banking, the MyNCU Mobile App for iOS and Android, mobile check deposit, courtesy pay, and more. Not only are we a fully digital credit union, but we have several locations in the DFW Metroplex.

Why join a credit union?

Earnings are returned to you in the form of better rates and lower fees.

We’re not like banks where the profits go straight into the pockets of shareholders. Our earnings go straight back to you in the form of better rates, dividends, and lower fees.

We are a not-for-profit owned and governed by the members.

Not only are our members a part of our community, they are stakeholders of the credit union and are key players to how we operate.

Credit Unions consistently offer better rates than the big banks.

We are in the business of helping people achieve their short and long-term financial goals for their families as well as help them live a life of financial freedom.
Do you offer the same services as a big bank?

Yes, we offer many of the same services as big banks—like checking and savings accounts, loans, credit cards, online banking, and mobile apps—but with the personalized service and member-first focus of a credit union. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, our goal is to support your financial well-being, not to maximize profits. That means fewer fees, competitive rates, and a commitment to helping our members and communities thrive.
